When you edit a template, the changes only apply to newly created:
Any documents created before the template update will remain unchanged.
How Templates Work
Templates act as a starting point when a new document is created.
Once the document is created:
Its settings become independent
It no longer stays linked to the template
This means:
Updating a template will affect future documents
Existing documents will keep their original settings
Example
You update your:
Header branding
on a SalesDoc template.
Any new SalesDocs created from that template will use the updated settings.
Previously created SalesDocs will not change.
Why This Matters
This protects historical documents and prevents unexpected changes to:
Customer-facing quotes
Approved presentations
Existing SalesStores
Pro Tip
If you need major workflow changes, consider:
Updating your existing template
Or duplicating it and creating a new version
This allows you to preserve older workflows while introducing updated processes moving forward.
