Control How Customers Interact with SalesDocs

Learn how to customize customer actions on SalesDocs, including quote acceptance, online payments, comments, and downloads. Control the buttons customers see and create an experience that matches your sales process.

Customer Actions on SalesDocs

Customer Actions control how your customer interacts with a SalesDoc — including accepting a quote, making a payment, and the buttons they see on the document.

To access these settings, click the top section of the SalesDoc, where the action buttons are displayed. This opens the Customer Action settings panel.

Default Button Functions

By default, SalesDocs include the following customer action buttons:

  • Download PDF → Generates a PDF version of the SalesDoc for the customer

  • Leave Comment → Allows the customer to submit a text-based comment (the SalesDoc owner is notified)

  • Accept → Updates the SalesDoc status (based on your SalesDoc Status settings) and shows a confirmation popup to the customer

  • Accept & Pay → Opens the Stripe payment window, allowing the customer to enter their card details and complete payment

⚠️ Important

When renaming buttons, make sure the label clearly reflects the action being performed.

For example:

  • ACCEPT & PAY - the button opens the Stripe payment popup, the name of the button should still indicate this behavior. Eg:

    • Pay Now

    • Pay Online

    • Pay With Card

  • ACCEPT - The button function marks the SalesDoc as Accepted, the name should in some way match this behavior. Eg:

    • Approve

    • Let's Go!

    • Proceed

  • LEAVE COMMENT - The button function allows the customer to write a text comment and you are notified. The button name should indicate this behavior. Eg:

    • Need Changes?

    • Let us Know What You Think

    • Get in Touch

    • Leave Notes

Clear, accurate button text helps avoid confusion and ensures a smooth customer experience.

Accepting Payments with Stripe

If you have connected your Stripe account, you can enable online payments directly within your SalesDoc.

Turning on the Accept and Pay option allows customers to:

  • Accept the quote

  • Pay immediately online

If you prefer not to offer online payments for a specific SalesDoc, simply disable this option.

Applying Surcharges or Discounts

You can also configure payment-based adjustments, such as surcharges or discounts, when customers choose to pay via Stripe.

This gives you flexibility to:

  • Pass on payment processing costs

  • Incentivize certain payment methods

How These Settings Are Used

Customer Action settings can be configured once and reused across your workflow.

In most cases, you’ll:

  • Set your preferred defaults

  • Save them into templates

  • Only adjust them when needed for specific customers or deals

This keeps your SalesDocs consistent while still giving you flexibility when it matters.

💡 Pro Tip: Save Customer Actions to Templates

Customer Action settings can be saved into your SalesDoc Templates, allowing you to reuse the same button configuration across future quotes and proposals.

Saving these settings to a template helps create a consistent customer experience and reduces the need to manually configure actions each time you create a new SalesDoc.
