Create and Manage Text Columns

Text columns allow you to store and display free-form information directly on your SalesBoards and JobBoards.

Unlike Status, Date, or Person columns, Text columns are completely flexible, making them ideal for short notes, instructions, references, and other information that your team needs to see at a glance without opening the record.

Add a Text Column

To add a Text column to a board:

  1. Hover over any board header and click the + icon.

  2. Select Text from the available column types.

  3. A new Text column will be added to the board.

  4. Click the column title to rename it if required.

For example, you might create columns such as:

  • Production Notes

  • Special Instructions

  • Internal Reference

  • Artwork Notes

  • Customer Requests

Enter Text Values

Simply click into any cell within the Text column and begin typing.

The information entered will be displayed directly on the board, making it easy for team members to view important notes without needing to open the underlying SalesDoc, Customer, or Job.

Text values can be updated at any time as requirements change.

Understanding Text Column Limitations

Text columns are designed primarily for text-based information.

If a value begins with certain symbols, such as a currency symbol, the value may not save.

When entering numerical information, it is recommended that you enter the value without the leading currency symbol.

For example:

  • $500 should instead be entered as 500

Common Uses for Text Columns

Text columns are often used to display information that team members need quick access to while working from a board view.

Examples include:

  • Production instructions

  • Delivery notes

  • Customer preferences

  • Internal reference numbers

  • Artwork requirements

  • Special handling instructions

Because the information is visible directly on the board, teams can quickly review important details without navigating away from their current workflow.

While Text columns are great for notes that are visible on the boards, you can also consider using Comments to keep notes that cannot be removed from the Job or SalesDoc records.
