Create and Manage Person Columns

Assign ownership and responsibility across your SalesBoards and JobBoards using Person columns. Learn how to assign users, manage workloads, and create filterable views based on team responsibilities.

Person columns allow you to assign Hoops users to records directly from your SalesBoards and JobBoards.

They are commonly used to indicate ownership, responsibility, or accountability for different parts of a workflow, helping teams clearly understand who is responsible for each task, job, or opportunity.

Add a Person Column

To add a Person column to a board:

  1. Hover over any board header and click the + icon.

  2. Select Person from the available column types.

  3. A new Person column will be added to the board.

  4. Click the column title to rename it if required.

Snapshot

For example, you might rename the column to:

  • Sales Rep

  • Artwork Owner

  • Production Owner

  • Account Manager

  • Installer

  • Screen Cleaner

Assign Users

Click any cell within the Person column to view a list of users in your Hoops account.

Simply select the user you would like to assign to that record.

The list is populated automatically from the active users within your organization, making it easy to assign responsibility without needing to manually enter names.

Assignments can be updated at any time as work moves between team members.

Use Multiple Person Columns

Many teams use multiple Person columns to track ownership across different stages of a process.

For example, a production workflow might include:

  • Sales Rep

  • Artwork Owner

  • Production Owner

  • Quality Control Owner

  • Installer

This allows each department or team member to clearly understand their responsibilities throughout the lifecycle of a job.

Filter Records by Person

Person columns can be used with board filters and saved views to create personalized workspaces for team members.

For example, users can quickly filter a board to view:

  • Jobs assigned to them

  • Quotes requiring their attention

  • Artwork they are responsible for

  • Production tasks owned by their department

This helps reduce clutter and makes it easier for individuals to focus on the work that is relevant to them.
