The fastest way to learn Hoops is to build something!
Your account already includes sample customers, products, and decorations, so you can create your first quote in just a few minutes—without needing to set up your catalog first.
By the end of this guide you'll have created a quote and viewed it exactly as your future customers will.
⚠️ Before You Begin
To save your first quote, you'll first need to configure at least one tax in Hoops.
This only takes a minute and ensures taxes are automatically applied as you build future SalesDocs.
Step 1: Create a New Quote
From the SalesBoard, click Add New and select Quote.
This opens the SalesDoc Builder, where you'll create your first customer-ready quote using the sample data already included in your Hoops account.
Step 2: Understand the Live Editor
Before adding anything to your quote, take a moment to understand how the SalesDoc Builder works.
The left-hand side is a live preview of your quote. This is almost exactly what your customer will see when they receive the document.
The right-hand side is the Toolbox, where you make all your changes.
Simply click any section of the document preview on the left to edit it. Hoops automatically opens the relevant toolbox on the right, allowing you to update that specific part of the quote.
As you make changes, the preview updates instantly, so you're always working on a live version of your customer-facing document.
This "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) editing experience makes building SalesDocs fast, intuitive, and easy to learn.
Step 3: Select a Customer
Click the customer section in the document preview.
The Customer Toolbox opens on the right.
Choose one of the pre-loaded customers from the list.
Step 4: Add a Product
Click the empty products section of the quote.
Choose Catalog Product, then select one of the sample products—such as a T-shirt.
Enter a quantity and choose a color and size.
You'll immediately see your quote update on the left.
Step 5: Add a Decoration
Using the Quick Actions toolbar, add a Catalog Decoration.
Choose the sample One Colour Screen Print decoration.
Notice how Hoops automatically:
Calculates pricing
Applies your markup
Adds the linked setup charge
Updates the live preview
Step 6: Add Shipping
Using the Quick Actions toolbar, add Shipping.
Enter a shipping amount (for example, $50) and watch the totals update automatically.
Step 7: Save Your Quote
Click Save & Close or Save & Send.
Congratulations—you've just created your first Hoops quote!
Step 8: See What Your Customer Sees
Open the Actions menu and select Copy Guest View Link.
Paste the link into a new browser tab.
You'll now see your quote exactly as your customer will experience it.
This is one of the easiest ways to review your work before sending quotes to real customers.
