Markups allow Hoops to automatically calculate selling prices based on your costs.
This article covers the simplest and most common setup: a single markup that applies to all products, decorations, and additional costs.
Why Use a Simple Markup?
A simple markup ensures that every item added to a SalesDoc SalesPresentation or SalesStore automatically receives a consistent markup without requiring manual pricing.
This is a great starting point for new accounts and can be refined later with more advanced markup rules.
Create the Markup
Navigate to Settings → Markups and click Add Markup.
Step 1: Name the Markup
Enter a name such as: Simple - All
This markup will be used to catch all products and pricing within your account. The markup name is only used as a reference should you wish to edit this in the future. Should you consider adding more advanced markup rules, the name becomes more important.
Step 2: Configure the Markup Rule
Create a rule that covers the full range of costs you sell.
For example:
Cost Price Range | Quantity | Markup |
$0.01 - $10,000 | Greater than or equal to 1 | 75% |
This means any item costing between $0.01 and $10,000 will automatically receive a 75% markup.
If you sell products with higher costs, simply increase the upper limit.
Step 3: Apply the Markup
For a simple markup setup, select at least one of:
All Products
All Decorations
All Additional Costs
This ensures the markup is applied throughout your account.
Click Save.
If you're just starting out with Hoops, these articles will help:
See the Markup in Action
For example:
Quantity: 100
Cost Price: $10.75
Because the cost falls within the markup rule, Hoops automatically applies the 75% markup and calculates the selling price.
The same logic applies to decorations and additional costs.
Override a Markup
Automatic markups can be adjusted at any time.
If you need a different selling price, simply increase or decrease the markup on the item.
To return to the saved default markup, click the X beside the override value.
Hoops will immediately recalculate the price using the original markup rule.
